Hey, I Remember That!

Ok, so I've spent all morning surfing this site...what can I say, I love retro stuff. This place is pretty cool, as far as blasts from the past's go...but what really kept me busy was the old commercials. Specifically, the old Nintendo Entertainment System commericals from the 80's. They have ads for Lengend of Zelda, the Power Glove, Tetris...it's just too cool for school.

Not a gamer? Don't worry...this site is full of other neat stuff. Powercats, He-Man, the old Burger King glasses based on popular movies...it's all here. Even the Noid from the Domino's Pizza ads!

So check it out, it's radical...bossanova, even!

Oh wow! I can't wait until I have time to go through all those shows. I've wondered about some of them over the years. You know, like when you have a vague picture in your head of some show you used to watch as a kid, but you don't really remember it...or like when you think some famous person used to be in a show, but you can't remember for sure. Thanks for the link!

In the vein of up-up-down-down etc. I find that even after a decade and a half I can still hum the little song the flute played on Zelda (to summon a whirlwind), remember which tombstone the secret is under (BOTH quests), and probably more.

sad.

That is NOT sad, it is awesome!! Rejoice, in your geek. Embrace it, friend.

Now that whistle song is in my head...great.

I loved watching the 80's video game commercials and watching them fight with each other as the graphics progressed. I totally miss my Atari 7800 now with that funky joystick (it played all 2600 games!). However, when I bought my NES, it didn't come with a fuckin robot or anything. I did have the power pad, though, which made my downstairs nieghbors crazy. I could beat cheetah in the track game! beat that mf-ers!

They have TMNT again now, but it's not funny like it was when I was a kid. It's all serious and they don't eat pizza. Bummer.

I remember going out and buying the Power Glove for NES right after I saw it in the movie "The Wizard". Remember that Super Mario 3 was first seen in that movie?! It was all top-secret then. Of course, there was no internet then, either. There's no way they could keep a big game like that secret for long.

BTW, the Power Glove sucked. It didn't work well at all.

The Power Glove sucked ASS. My mom was so pissed that she bought it for me, and I never used it because it was so crappy.

Now, the NES Advantage was gold, on the other hand.
