World AIDS Day 2005

Today, December 1st is World AIDS Day. It's the day when people around the world are meant to stand together in one voice, and say "We will defeat this horrible epidemic that has swept across our lands!" while holding hands and praying for a better future. It's the day when awareness is raised, donations are given, and celebrities give speeches.

This is my first time ever hearing about it, which does not surprise me one bit. I've commented before about the lack of media coverage of AIDS, and how it has become an "Out of sight, out of mind" epidemic that gets less spotlight time than David Duchovny lately. (Read my post about the lack of AIDS media coverage here)

I will say this, though: the coverage this year must be better than last year, because last year I don't remember hearing about World AIDS Day whatsoever...so the fact that I know about it this year is a plus in the AIDS Media Marketing column.

CNN even gave it a headline. Not THE headline, of course. That would be too much spotlight. But they did give the AIDS day a headline, and that's all that matters.

Anyway, happy World AIDS Day 2005! I encourage you all to spend some time today (if even a few minutes) reminding yourself about the horrible problems of AIDS, and that it is something that is still a plague on our world. Maybe you could even go so far as to wear a red ribbon. I know that ribbons are symbols and many people don't like symbols...but symbols are cliché for a reason. Try it out...it's not that bad. I promise it won't make you look fat.

I know it's been around since at least 2002, but I'm sure it's older than that.

I'm not sure if "holding hands and praying for a better future" is going to fix much, but you won't see me argue that it's not still a major problem.

Happy WAD to you too.

Yeah. We could totally beat it, but there is too much money being made selling AZT and other AIDS related drugs. Same thing with cancer. Did you know, that in independent studies, it has been shown that simple injections of Vitamin B-17 actually cures cancer, no side effects, no shit. However, there is a law that says if a doctor gives you a B-17 shot in the US, he will lose his medical license. Bullshit.

think frustrated: Are you kidding me? That shit sounds made up, yo.

It is for real. Check it out. It is all over the web. The US actually used to allow the B-17 injections to be used as a form of cancer treatment. Basically, B-17 has a little cyanide in it. But, it's a special type of cyanide that attacks at cells specifically. We have an amazing immune system that will allow the b17 to only get into cancer cells, thereby killing them. This is not a joke. I'm surprised more people don't know about it. The active ingredient is called laetrile and is found, in concentrated form, in the pits of apricots. Check out this site: www.cancercure.org/laetrile.htm Be advised that doses of b17 and laetrile have to be used in conjunction with healthy diet, etc. and cannot cure brain cancer. They work best at preventing cancer.

Wow...I might have to check that out, then.

Hey did anybody watch ER last night and see the crazy HIV mom who didn't believe her son was sick? How crazy was that bitch?

There was a sex scene with Abby and Kovac? Dammit I miss all the good stuff. I don't regularly watch the show, but it was on in the background and I heard the HIV mom part and started paying more attention.
